7 notes 7 colors

Here's the beginning of the project "Klang".

Klang is one of the many typefaces in the letterpress den.

Klang (german word for sound) seemed at first glance a not very playfull type to work with, actually I still not like it, but what came out of it... well that's a different history.

Basing the research on sound I found a theory which explains that measuring the wavelength of colour you can produce a frequency which will give you a sound, so every note, has a colour!
Also while researching about the word Klang I found out about a musical technique developed by the composer painter and poet Arnold Schoenberg named "klangfarbenmelody" (sound-color-melody). This musical technique involves breaking up a melody out from one instrument to between several intruments adding greater colour and texture to a melodic line. And I thought what if we do that with color on the lyrics of a song?
And that's what happened with my first attempt. The song: "over the rainbow" (cheese i know).
However that's a project in early stages and we have plenty of new ideas to play with... Let's hope for the best!
